The Hot Water Wax Process
Experience the vibrant allure of encaustic art, where hot wax transforms waveforms, blue pigment, and blank wooden boards into captivating reminders of the call of the sea. Discover art that tells a story.
Why Choose Hot Water Wax for Your Art Collection?
Let the sea draw you in through our encaustic art. Each encaustic piece is made with wax when it reaches water-like fluidity at temperatures of 200 degrees.
Our art captures the duality of hot water- at once warm and inviting enjoyed in a dip in the ocean, sipped in tea, taken in a bath with a good book, yet dangerous to touch like hot wax and evocative of trouble, “In Hot Water”. Works are crafted by our talented mother-daughter duo based in Scituate and inspired by the simultaneously compelling beauty and danger of the cold waters off the South Shore.
- Handcrafted with premium UV resistant hot wax
- Inspired by stunning coastal landscapes
- Perfect for art enthusiasts and collectors- created on durable natural wood cradleboard for transport and ease of hanging

Soft Focus Salt Water Droplet Macro Photography
Through one- if not several- layers of glass, carefully scattered seashells, salt water droplets, photos modified through layers of filters and backlit by an ipad, and the extra layer of photographing an original photo onscreen to produce another original photo, Hot Water Wax’s photography highlights the need to see and know through layers cloaking reality. A variety of media- fine art paper, acrylic, and metal complement these conceptual works.
