Ceci has been captivated by coastal beauty since she spent her first year of life learning to crawl on one of the few natural shingle beaches in the world outside Japan and New Zealand. Her passions in life all revolve around the water- synchronized swimming, reading in a hot bath, swimming on the shores of Scituate, sailing, sipping tea, and kayaking. Her favorite art form is wax for its versatility and flow reminiscent of water.
Ceci translates her fervor for the beach and all things ocean related into stunning encaustic art. Growing up the daughter of a photographer and art historian, she has spent countless hours absorbing the aesthetic of Old Master painters in museums and discovered her own place in a more contemporary media, learning to create pieces that resonate with emotion and vibrancy. Her work is a testament to the power of art to evoke the spirit of the sea and sky.
Caroline is a professional photographer specializing in maternity and newborn photography. She has received numerous awards including the International Baby Photo Award and a fellowship from the French National Institute of Art History (INHA). She graduated from Harvard with a Bachelor of Arts and University of Glasgow with a Master’s in Literature in Fine and Decorative Art.
Ceci and Caroline draw inspiration from the ever-changing coastal landscapes, the interplay of light and shadow, and the vibrant colors of the sea. Each piece is a reflection of these elements, capturing the essence of nature’s beauty.
Another source of inspiration is literature. As an avid reader, Ceci enjoys nautical literature. The poem Sea Fever by John Masefield is one of her favorite works capturing the call of the ocean that reverberates in her work.
